Hi, we’re Tony and Jess Berkshire, the husband and wife behind SweetRise Sourdough. We live a busy (and joy-filled!) life with our four kids.
In 2021, Jess began looking for natural ways to improve her health. That search led her to sourdough, and by 2022 she was baking fresh sourdough loaves for our family. In 2023, her creativity in the kitchen expanded into other homemade sourdough goods.
Meanwhile, Tony has always been a cereal lover—breakfast, snacks, even late-night bowls before bed. But Jess was quick to remind him of what most cereals are made with: lots of additives, sugar, and ingredients that don’t nourish the body. One day in 2024, we joked about making a sourdough cereal… until we realized something surprising: no one else was doing it.
That turned into an idea worth chasing. Jess began experimenting with recipes. It was a long process, with plenty of trial and error (and a few moments of almost giving up!). But by March 2025, she had created a crunchy, nourishing sourdough cereal that tasted as good as it made us feel.
